1. Who you are booking with

These terms apply to experiences supplied by Trondheim by Boat AS and activities marketed under Trondheim by Foot, unless the booking confirmation names another responsible supplier.

2. Booking and payment

A booking is confirmed when the required payment or deposit has been completed and a confirmation has been issued. Check the date, departure time, product, number of guests and meeting point immediately.

Prices are shown in Norwegian kroner unless stated otherwise. The checkout or written offer explains what is included. Extra services requested after confirmation may be charged separately.

For larger tailored bookings above NOK 50,000, a deposit of 25–50% may be required. The exact deposit, payment schedule and any supplier-specific conditions will be stated in the written offer.

3. Guest cancellation

The applicable cancellation rule will be shown in the product description, written offer or booking confirmation. Where no more specific rule is stated, the following company rules apply:

Between 48 and 24 hours before departure50% refund
Less than 24 hours before departure or no-showNo refund

Combined tours and tailored packages

Less than 7 days, but more than 48 hours before departure50% refund
Within 48 hours or no-showNo refund

Multi-day pilgrimages, third-party services, accommodation and special events may have separate deadlines and non-refundable costs. Those conditions must be accepted before confirmation. Statutory consumer rights are not excluded.

4. Weather, changes and force majeure

Safety comes first. Weather, water, snow, trail, transport or operational conditions may require a different route, meeting point, departure time, duration, activity or vessel. A reasonable change that preserves the main character of the experience does not automatically constitute a cancellation.

If we cancel an experience before departure, the guest is entitled to a full refund of the amount paid for the affected experience. We may instead offer a suitable alternative or rescheduling, but the guest is free to choose the full refund.

When a tour is changed or cancelled because of weather, unsafe conditions or circumstances beyond our reasonable control, the guest cannot claim additional compensation or reimbursement of consequential costs beyond the refund described above, unless mandatory law provides otherwise. This includes missed or changed onward travel, accommodation and other independently booked services.

Force majeure includes extraordinary events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, natural events, fire, flood, epidemic or public-health restrictions, war, civil unrest, strikes, official orders, closure of roads, ports or trails, and major interruption of essential transport or infrastructure. We will take reasonable steps to inform guests and limit disruption, but are not responsible for losses caused by such events except where required by mandatory law.

Northern Lights and other natural phenomena can never be guaranteed. Absence of the phenomenon alone is not grounds for refund when the tour operates as described.

5. Guest responsibilities

  • Arrive at the confirmed meeting point at least 15 minutes before departure.
  • Allow sufficient time before and after the experience for connections and onward travel.
  • Follow instructions from guides, skippers and activity leaders.
  • Wear clothing and footwear suitable for the activity and conditions.
  • Provide accurate information about group size, age requirements, allergies, mobility considerations and other relevant needs.
  • Do not participate while impaired by alcohol or drugs.
  • Treat boats, dogs, equipment, nature, staff and other guests responsibly.

We may refuse or end participation when conduct creates a safety risk or substantially disrupts the experience. Refunds are not normally provided in such circumstances.

6. Insurance and responsibility

All guests must have suitable personal travel and accident insurance valid for the booked activity. The guest is responsible for checking that the policy covers the activity, destination, medical assistance, personal belongings, cancellation and disruption to onward travel. Boat operations also carry the insurance required for the operation.

Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and for allowing adequate connection time. Trondheim by Boat AS is not responsible for missed, delayed or cancelled onward transport—including boat, car, bus, train or air travel—or for related accommodation, ticket or rebooking costs when a tour is delayed, changed or cancelled due to weather, safety considerations, force majeure or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

Guests remain responsible for personal belongings. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where exclusion or limitation is prohibited by mandatory Norwegian law.

7. Problems and complaints

Tell the guide or skipper promptly if something is wrong so we have a reasonable opportunity to help during the experience. Written complaints should be sent to info@trondheimbyboat.com with the booking reference and relevant details.

If we do not resolve a consumer complaint together, the consumer may submit the dispute for mediation through the Norwegian Consumer Authority (Forbrukertilsynet). These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Nothing in these terms restricts any mandatory right to bring a claim before a competent complaints body or court.
