Trondheim was shaped by the water
Step aboard one of our traditional wooden boats at Ravnkloa and enter the city through its oldest route. We travel through the canal and onto the Nidelva, where warehouses lean over the water, Bakklandet rises behind the wharves and Nidaros Cathedral appears above the riverbank.
Your skipper and local host share stories about trade, boatbuilding, the city and everyday life along the water. The boat is small enough to bring you close to the river and the details larger vessels pass by.
Open boat, changing weather, genuine Trondheim.
Our clinker-built boats are open to the sky. Sun, wind and an occasional shower are part of travelling the traditional way. We provide life jackets, sheepskins and blankets; you bring clothes suited to the day's forecast.
Travel in a clinker-built boat connected to a Nordic boatbuilding tradition more than a thousand years old.
See the canal, historic wharves, Bakklandet and river landmarks from an unusually intimate perspective.
Meet the people who operate and care for the boats, and hear the stories that belong to this river.
No crowds and no rushing—only twelve guests per boat and time to take in the surroundings.
